Welcome to Eglish Presbyterian Cemetery

Founded at Derryfubble, 1769: Formerly part of Benburb Congregation. First known minister Rev. David Holmes (1778-1802). New meeting house built here 1802. Succeeded by Rev. Hugh Bell (1803-1848). Known for his wit, plain speaking and educational interests. In 1826 + the Church school had 50 pupils of all denominations. Dr. Thomas Reid (1791-1825, social reformer, traveller, Diarist; Received his religious and educational needs within this Church. Eglish’s most famous son, Rev, Dr. W. T Latimer ministered from 1872-1911. Distinguished Historian and Antiquarian. Author of “History of the Irish Presbyterians”.
